Edging Services
Edging, like trimming, is a grass cutting technique that involves trimming the edge of the yard or grass plot. The difference, however, is that edging is done by cutting vertically into the grass edges rather than at an angle or horizontally. Edging is unique in its ability to give the grass a well-defined stopping point, emphasizing the contrast between the yard and the adjacent ground. It is useful for making a flower bed stand out or a sidewalk more visible so that no grass blades are overlapping the borders. When done correctly, edging will give your yard's edges a clean, squared-off look. But, like any mowing service, edging must be handled with care and attention to detail for professional results.
A common mistake made by novice edging professionals is to cut too deep into the ground. Like most trimming services, a great edging job has a sweet spot between cutting too conservatively and cutting too deeply, leaving either no noticeable change or a trail of dead roots. Another newbie mistake is edging too far away from the true yard line. An eighth of an inch away from the edge of the flower bed or sidewalk is ideal, but going too far beyond that can result in an unnatural look. In some circumstances, it might make sense to mark out an edging path with spray paint or a rope. This is useful for edging around curves, but may not be necessary when edging an obvious line such as next to a sidewalk. As with any of our landscaping services, we take the time to survey the property in its entirety. A small and often overlooked step, it's one way we show our due diligence in preventing mowing accidents and preventable damage to your property. |
